Max was bred by Wildmoor Stud. He came to Narrawin in early November 2000. He was started under saddle and is currently in work. He is a naturally 5-gaited horse with a strong people-oriented attitude. He showing great promise as a gaited pleasure horse and we are hoping that he will pass on those traits to his offspring.

Max came to Narrawin primarily as a gaited riding horse, after the loss of our beloved Demon.  We were impressed with his looks, attitude and movement.

Max loves people. He is energetic, curious and eager to please. Although he is ridden sporadically only, he is one of our favourites and rarely disappoints. He has a beautiful long stride and is smooth and groundcovering in all gaits, including trot and canter. He has the lovely shoulder and neck typical of Saddlebreds. He has short cannons and good bone. Add to that a pleasing topline and great self-carriage. Max is not only good-looking but great to ride.

His foal are showing his qualities and we are looking forward to starting the oldest ones under saddle this year (2008). Here are photos of one of his three year old daughters. Please also see the list of sales and sold horses for his progeny.

In November 2008, we took Max to Equitana in Melbourne and had the opportunity to showcase American Saddlebreds and Gaited Horses to a wide audience. It's hard for a horse to put up with the stabling, the noise, the strangers and just the disruption from normal routine. He took it well, and was no problem in the stallion parade with loads of other horses. Please see the news archive page for November 2008 for some photos.

Max is not for sale. He does stand at stud by live cover. Please note though that due to limited time, there may be times when we are not prepared to take in outside mares, so please enquire and we will see what we can do.
