Sam was bred at Bairnsdale in Victoria and arrived at Narrawin Stud as yearling.  He was started under saddle at Narrawin along the lines of traditional Peruvian training.  He was one of our pleasure riding horses until he was retired from riding due to injury.

Sam had a very outgoing personality, was highly intelligent and very willing to please. He was an absolute pleasure to work with at all times. He has loads of brio, that quality which makes Spanish blood horses so special. Brio is heart, fire, a desire to show off and please, but easily controllable with the touch of a finger or a word. His pasollano was beautiful and smooth, he had good thread and moderate termino. He had great natural self-carriage and a very big overstep.

He was 14 hands in height, elegant and of Spanish type. He sired  lovely partbred and purebred foals. All have inherited his intelligence and outgoing nature. 

In April 2008, we had to make the final tough decision. Complications from his old back injury, and resulting chronic founder reduced his quality of life to the point where he had to let him go. He was a total gentleman to the end. He was one of those rare pearls one comes across every once in a while.
